DPlan is a free, offline-first project planner and Gantt chart tool that runs entirely in your browser. No installation, no account, no server required. It supports tasks, dependencies, resources, cost tracking, critical path analysis, task tags, comments, blockers, built-in reports, and Excel import/export.

Is DPlan free to use?

Yes. DPlan is completely free. There is no subscription, no account, and no usage limits. All data is stored locally in your browser's localStorage — no cloud, no sign-in required.

Does DPlan work offline?

Yes. DPlan is offline-first. Once loaded, it works with no internet connection. All data is stored in your browser's localStorage — no cloud sync, no sign-in required.

Can DPlan export to Excel or PDF?

Yes. DPlan can export your project to XLS/Excel, PDF (Gantt chart + reports), PNG image, HTML, and the native .dplan file format. It also supports a Print Gantt mode for A3/A4 landscape printing and a Client View export that strips internal cost and comment data before sharing.

Does DPlan support task dependencies?

Yes. DPlan supports all four dependency types: Finish-to-Start (FS), Start-to-Start (SS), Finish-to-Finish (FF), and Start-to-Finish (SF), with optional lag values. Dependency arrows are drawn on the Gantt timeline and update live when tasks are dragged.

Does DPlan have critical path analysis?

Yes. DPlan automatically calculates and highlights the critical path using CPM (Critical Path Method). Critical tasks are shown in red on the Gantt chart. The Reports section includes a dedicated Critical Path report.

Can I track resources and costs in DPlan?

Yes. DPlan supports three resource types — Person, Equipment, and Material — with day rates, allocation percentages, and per-resource working day calendars. Cost tracking is optional and can be enabled in Settings. Reports include Cost Summary, Resource Assignments, Material Consumption, and Equipment Utilisation.

How many projects and tasks can DPlan handle?

DPlan can handle hundreds of tasks across multiple projects. Data is stored in browser localStorage. Always save a .dplan file for reliable off-device backup and sharing.

Does DPlan support task tags and filtering?

Yes. Each task can have multiple tags (labels) added in the Task Editor. Tags appear as color-coded chips on task rows. The filter bar includes a Tag filter — type any part of a tag name to instantly show only matching tasks across the Gantt. Clicking a tag chip on any row auto-populates the tag filter.

Can I add comments and flag blockers on tasks?

Yes. DPlan supports threaded task comments in the Task Editor. Comments support @mentions for team members. Any comment can be flagged as a Blocker — blocker tasks show a pulsing red badge on the task row and a red indicator dot on the Gantt bar. The 'What's Blocking Me Today' panel aggregates all blocked and overdue tasks in one view.

Can I import tasks from Excel or CSV into DPlan?

Yes. The Import tab (HOME ribbon → Import Tasks) accepts .xlsx and .csv files. DPlan maps columns for task name, start/finish dates, duration, status, priority, assignee, and WBS hierarchy. It auto-creates resources and normalises status/priority values from common synonyms. Holiday and team event data can also be imported from spreadsheets.

What built-in reports does DPlan include?

DPlan includes eight built-in reports: Project Status Summary, Critical Path Analysis, Schedule Slippage Report, Completion by Phase, Cost Summary (when cost tracking is on), Resource Assignments, Material Consumption, and Equipment Utilisation. All reports can be printed or exported as PDF directly from the Reports panel.

Does DPlan support custom work calendars per resource?

Yes. Each resource in DPlan has its own working-day schedule. By default resources work Monday to Friday. You can toggle individual days on or off per resource — useful for part-time staff, contractors, or weekend shift workers. The Task Editor shows how many working days each resource contributes to each assigned task based on their individual calendar.
